20/07/2005 ALMACTUM SUPERIOR Almactum Ahmed triumphed superiorly in double-trap. In basic round he scored 145, 3 more than Ractore from India . Although he went through a crises in the middle part of the final and Makitalo from Finland came dangerously close. At the end Almactum shot excellently and won the gold medal with the score of 192.Silver went to Cettuci from Malta who was better than Makitalo in shootoff. They both had 188 shot off targets. Closing of the World Cup the President of the Organizing Committee Milan Sotra thanked all participants . He congratulated the best on records and the medals, and wished everyone we all meet at `Kovilovo` range soon. The World cup was officially closed by Vice - president of ISSF Medhat Wahdan.
20/07/2005 WAHDAN THRILLED WITH THE ORGANISATION AND THE RESULTS The vice-president of the ISSF Medhat Wahdan observed the competitions at the European Championship and the World Cup in Belgrade . After all he saw he has nothing to say but praise: -I am taking most beautiful impressions from your country. Especially those of `Kovilovo` range and your people. -The last major competition in our country was held in 1958 when we hosted European Championship. Having in mind that nearly half a century passed since then, can you say if we `passed the exam` concerning the organization? -You absolutely passed the exam. In my opinion, the contests have been organized in the best possible way. Those are among the best that I attended. It was shown once again that when there is a will there is a way to do something right. -Is this a reference for another major international competition for our country? -Once again it was proven that it takes not only good weapon but a good range too for the good results. "Kovilovo" is right that. Let me remind you that in the past 20 days on the European Championship and the World Cup 30 world and European records have been equaled or broken. That is, beside the good organization, another plus for you to host another great contest in the future. -What impressions are you taking from our country? -I really got to like your country. People are friendly to everybody. They are friendly and sociable. I would like to be here again, not only for shooting. At the end I will reveal to you how you got the hosting of the European Championship and the World Cup. During one competition in Finland 2002 Milan Sotra, whom I did not know than, came to me and told me that he was building an excellent range and that he wanted to host a major competition. I felt I could trust him right away. Last year before the Olympic Games in Athens started I came to Belgrade to inspect the range. Although it was not finished it was obvious that it will be of extraordinary quality. After that I went to Olympics where I was a technical delegate. When I realized the difference in quality of these two I knew that Belgrade will host a major contest. And that really happened - said Wahdan, Vice-president of ISSF.
19/07/2005 PRINCE ALMACTUM IN KOVILOVO One of the most famous participants of the World Cup is most certainly Ahmed Almactum, the prince of UAE. Almactum does not draw attention only with his noble origin, but with the fact that he is a top athlete too. He is the first medal winner from UAE winning last year's double trap on the Games in Athens . He proved that he is in excellent form during this season when he won the World Championship in Lonato ensuring the quota for the Olympic Games in Beijing Ahmed Almactum has been in Belgrade for a few days now. He practiced regularly on Kovilovo range and competed, for practicing more likely, in trap event although it is not his favorite event. He was 64-th with the score of 112. Although he already has the quota for the Olympic Games Almactum came to Belgrade because he heard many praises for Kovilovo Range . He liked this range so much that he told his friend and the main investor of the range Milan Sotra that he can built such facilities in the Emirates but he would have to wait for 20 years for the trees to grow because of the climates. On the last day of the World Cup Almactum will be one of the greatest favorites for the gold medal in Double Trap.
19/07/2005 NEW AWARDS FOR MILAN SOTRA Organizing of the European Championship and World Cup was successful in every way. That was confirmed by the shooters who broke nearly 30 world and European records by now, the guests and the officials of the international shooting sport. On that occasion during the last night's very pleasant banquet the president of the Organizing Committee Milan Sotra was presented with significant prizes, the Medal and the award of the ISSF, which was given to him by vice-president Medhat Wahdan, and the other one was given on behalf of the Shooting Federation of Cyprus by the president of the Federation and the president of the ISSF Shotgun Committee Dimitrios Lordos. -This is a great honor for me and a great commitment as well, to continue working this successfully, said Milan Sotra thanking for the awards.
18/07/2005 NEW RECORD AT KOVILOVO 2 days before the end of the World Cup high scores and the records occurred. Mario Nunez from Spain equaled the world record in skeet with the score of 149. The silver medal went to former record keeper, 16 year old Hancock from USA with a point down. Nicolaidis fom Cyprus got the third position afther the shootout with Wenzel from Germany . They both had the score of 147, Jind from China was 5-th and Italian Eleuteri was 6-th with 145. In the Trap event Emanuele Bernasconi won with the score of 146, better by 2 than his countryman Pelielo. However, the actual record was set by the Russian Alipov with 147. And the Italian triumph was made even greater by Fracka`s silver medal with145. Filipovic from Slovakia was better in the shootout than Gopkin from Russia and won the bronze medal . They both had 144 points by then. Our contestants did not have the chance to practice enough so the bad results are both realistic and expected. Pavlovic was 34-th with 117, Mihailovic was 60-th with 114, and Predrag Sotra 79-th with109. There are no events scheduled for Tuesday and the official practice will take place. World Cup ends on Wednesday with the Double-trap men.
17/07/2005 NEW WORLD RECORDS On today's schedule there are Trap and Skeet woman events. Two world records have been equaled. Elena Tkach from Russia scored 94 in trap event, equalizing the record of Gao from China From World Cup in Rome. Little Elena triumphed in Skeet with the score of 96/74. She has beaten the world record held by Zirar - Alar with the score of 72. At the same time she equaled the current record with the final. The results of the Skeet Women: 1. 17/07/2005 SUPERIOR LITL ELENA Elena Little from Great Britain superiorly won the gold medal in skeet. In basic part she scored 74, 2 more than world record. In final she was leading all the time and eventually won with the score of 96. Zang from China was second with the score of 94. The final order of the rest of the finalists was decided after the shootout, because they all had 93 points each. The most accurate was Valk from Netherlands with the score of 8, and she won the bronze. With one point less in the shootout, the fourth place went to Demina from Russia. Bacosi from Italy and Brickner from England were eliminated from the shootout because they had 3 points each. They fought for 5-th place and the English was more accurate. She scored 8 and Baccosi 7.
15/07/2005 WORLD CUP OPEN World Cup in the shotgun disciplines has been opened. On the opening ceremony held on the Kovilovo range on the outskirts of Belgrade the speeches of Milan Sotra, the president of the Organizing Committee, Ivan Curkovic, the President of the Olympic Committee of Serbia and Montenegro and Medhat Wahdan from Egypt, the Vice- president of ISSF were heard. Milan Sotra thanked the executives of ISSF which granted our capital`s hosting of the World Cup and promised that he and his associates would do their best to make this competition work in every way. Ivan Curkovic stated that the hosting of the World Cup presents acknowledgement to both our country and Milan Sotra - the direct organizer of the competition. Methad Wahdan expressed his contentment with the fact that Milan Sotra relized his dream and built one of the most beautiful ranges in Europe. Wahdan said that these facilities and the organization present a good reference for Belgrade to host Olympic Games one day. Before announcing the World Cup open Wahdan gave the medal of ISSF to Ivan Curkovic. 300 shooters from 49 countries will take part in the Cup. The competition will be extraordinary because more than 20 medal winners from the last three Olympic Games will participate. On the shooting line there will be European champion Alexei Alipov, vice - champion Daniele di Spigno, Olympic medal winner from Athens Almacthum Ahmed from UAE and many more. The quotas for the next Olympic Games in Beijing 2008.can be gained on World Cup. On the first day of the competition, Saturday, men and women trap and skeet are scheduled The World Cup ends on 20 July.
14/07/2005 OPENING CEREMONY OF WORLD CUP AT FRIDAY NIGHT The days of shooting in Belgrade are continuing on Friday. After 10 days of the contest on the European Championship, The Sport and Olympic center Kovilovo will host the World Cup in clay targets shooting and Grand Prix of double - trap for women. The competition will be excellent. 300 shooters from 47 countries. More than 20 medal winners from last 3 Olympic games will take part. The top results are expected because the European Championship showed that Kovilovo shooting range fully qualifies for that. The opening ceremony will start at 20,30 on Friday, 15 July on Belgrade Sports Center Kovilovo. The first events, trap and skeet men and women,are scheduled at Saturday.
